Lesley Atkins wins Scottish Girls' Championship Print E-mail

Lesley Atkins of Gullane Ladies Golf Club is the 2010 Scottish Girls' (Close) Amateur Champion having beaten 23rd seed Kate McIntosh (Broomieknowe) by 5&4 in a good quality final.

Kate birdied the 1st hole to go one up but Lesley had an excellent pitch and putt par to win the 2nd hole before holing her 25 foot birdie putt on the 3rd to go one up.  The next four holes were halved before Lesley extended her lead to two at the 8th and then to three at the 11th hole.  The short 12th was halved in pars before Lesley finished out the match in style with birdies at the 13th and 14th holes to win by 5&4.  Lesley was approximately level par for the fourteen holes played.

The 2011 Scottish Girls' (Close) Championship will be held at Glenisla Golf Club from 12 - 16 July.

Emily Taylor Wins Scottish Under 16's Title Print E-mail

The second and final round of the 2010 SLGA Under 16 Open Championship took place yesterday, 9 April on a perfect day for scoring. The best under 16 golfing talent from Great Britain and Ireland did not disappoint with plenty of low scores over the Rannaleroch course at Strathmore Golf Centre.

Emily Taylor from Royal Lytham St Annes stormed to a six under par second round 66, giving her a four under par total of 140.  That was just enough to take the title by one shot from Ashley Crammond, The Warwickshire who shot a second round 68 for a total of 141.  Georgia Hall, Ferndown and Bronte Law, Bramhall were 3rd and 4th respectively on 142.
