Heather Anderson starts her bid to defend the Scottish Senior Ladies' (Close) Match Play title at Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Club today (1 July 2010). Heather is the number one seed having won the Seniors Stroke Play Championship at the same venue yesterday. Heather Anderson wins Seniors Stroke Play Title |

Heather Anderson, Alyth was the only player to break 80 on a sunny but windy day at Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Club. Her score of 73 allowed her to leap to the top of the leader board and win the Scottish Senior Ladies' (Close) Stroke Play Championship by two shots from Fiona de Vries (St Rule) and the first round leader Anne Ryan (Tain). Heather is also therefore the top qualifier for the Scottish Senior Ladies' (Close) Matchplay Championship which starts tomorrow. Kelsey MacDonald, who followed her victory in the Scottish Championship by reaching the final of the British Championship, is the new leader at the top of the Scottish Ladies' Golfing Association's Order of Merit. The Nairn Dunbar 19-year old has overtaken the defending champion, Louise Kenney (Pitreavie), to head the table on 2,595 points. The other major mover is 18-year old Sally Watson (Elie and Earlsferry). The two-time Curtis Cup player, who has just completed her first year at Stanford University in California, reached the third round of the British Championship at Ganton and has slipped into fifth place with 1,407 points. Kenney, who was unable to play in the British Championship, is in second place with 2,280 points, with Alford's Laura Murray (1955) and Craigielaw's Jane Turner (1655) in third and fourth spots. |

Anne Ryan leads by one at Scottish Seniors |
|
Anne Ryan (Tain) leads by one shot from Fiona de Vries, St Rule and by two from Lynne Terry (Cruden Bay) and May Hughes (Lanark) after round one of the Scottish Ladies' Seniors Stroke Play Championship at Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Club. Anne's round of 74 was three over the Par but only one over the CSS for the day and included three birdies at 6, 7 and 15. The stroke play championship concludes tomorrow with the top 16 scratch scores then qualifying for the match play Championship.
